This work is a play with the typography, layout and language of the receipts I collected from my shopping during a week. The asterisk (*) and hyphen (-) are frequently used in the receipts. Their function is to highlight, hide or divide information but also to decorate and personalize the receipts. I found it very fun to cut out, transform and add those signs along with the words, in order to create a new slightly more depressive version of shopping receipts. When I inversed my layout, as an attempt to see the shape and content in a new way, I noticed that they resembled death notices (where the asterisk also is used, but here to mark someones date of birth). In my continued work with the layout of the poster I used death notices in newspapers as my inspiration.
